Weapon Look: Zwei Schaedel (Dark Proving Grounds Weapon)

Above are the unmarked max stats, Charge Attack and Skills associated with the weapon in focus.

So Light advantage grounds just hit earlier and of course, a new weapon with it. Again, like always, this is an EX weapon so it competes with stuff like Hollowsky Weapon, Xeno Weapons, Qilin Sword and even Scales of Dominion; the biggest downside once again is that the EX attack mod Zwei provides is just 18% while the others provide 20% and Xenos provide 23% but like other grounds weapons, the 2nd skill is the highlight of the weapon, now Zwei Schaedel’s usefulness is actually debatable due to its selected activation which only procs during the 3rd hit of a triple attack; upon triple attacking, the 3rd hit gets a 20% echo and it stacks with a most things according to gamewith, the only things it doesn’t stack is FLB Six’s Mirror Image Passive, Ferry Grand’s Ghost Cage Passive, Dark Zeta’s Burn Passive, Vampy’s EMP skill, Dark Eustace’s Skill 1 echo and Tetrasteamer’s Humanity Emblem. The Charge Attack grants a party TA boost of 15% and up to 10k supplemental damage. So yeah unlike previous grounds weapon, this is probably the weakest one so far mainly because of the need to triple attack before it does something.

Note that unlike previous grounds weapons, having 2 copies won’t give you 40% echo, it just caps at 20%. If you need some proof, I already did a test since I was lucky enough to get 2 MLB copies while I was still grinding the badges and points. You can see the grid below and the damage output of 2 Zwei Schaedels.

As you can see above, even with 2 Schaedels the harp cap is still 20% and note that the weapon’s 2nd skill doesn’t have a main hand requirement so it works from sub grid, probably making this its best feature.

Is it a must?

As I’ve explained above, its use is debatable but I guess you should farm at least 1MLB copy which should be easily attainable by just completing the badges and the point rewards, so there’s no real grind involved here as the weapon only works for 1 copy in the grid.

The things it works with:

Being a selective weapon as it is already, it pretty much works with just a few stuff, generally, if your team’s MA is high this is definitely gonna be useful especially if you have high auto attack damage which fits perfectly with Dark Fist units. But if I’d be specific, for weapons in grid, this works perfectly with another triple attack dependent weapon and it’s the Hollowsky Axe.

Hollowsky axe boosts Axe and Fist units’ triple attack rate by 10% as well as adding up to 100k supplemental damage to all damage layers, meaning if the unit deals a triple attack with Zwei Schaedel, you automatically get +100k on the base damage AND another +100k for the echo that Zwei Schaedel procs. Another weapon it works with would be Parazonium (or GW Dagger if you must) as a main hand due to the MA boost it gives on CA.

Now, as for the units, there’s generally 4 units I can think of easily:

  • Wulf and Rennie
  • Predator
  • Orchid
  • Seox

Wulf and Rennie as well as Predator are immediate top picks because they have guaranteed Triple Attacks. Orchid meanwhile has really amazing Triple Attack rate when her skill 1 is active and Six pretty much has guaranteed TA buffs for 2 turns as well as having really high damage which can maximize the weapon’s skill 2 when his Mirror Image isn’t up.

Edited:

Here’s a quick demonstration of the weapon for y’all.

And that’s about it for this round of weapon look!

Weapon Look: Ushumgal (Fire Proving Grounds Weapon)

Above are the unmarked max stats, Charge Attack and Skills associated with the weapon in focus.

Ushumgal isn’t a new weapon per se but during its first appearance, which was the beta test of Proving Grounds, you’ll only be able to complete it if you luck out on drops and during that time, I wasn’t really interested in the weapon so I didn’t complete it and much to my regret, I really needed it later on. Luckily this round of Proving Grounds had it come back so I now have 2 copies!

Let’s get to its breakdown first… it’s an EX weapon so, by default, it competes with slots for Xeno Weapons, Hollowsky Weapons and even Scales of Dominion if you’re running a highlander grid; compared to those stated, this is indeed the weakest when it comes to boosting your EX attack mod as it’s only a big modifier, meaning it’s only 18% at sk 15 as opposed the 20% from Hollowsky/Scales and the 23% from Xeno BUT the main beef of the grounds weapons are the fact that their second skills are pretty useful and with that said, Ushumgal’s 2nd skill is a skill damage cap up for all fire units and by skill 15, it boosts your skill cap by 15% with multiple copies stacking up to a max of 40% skill cap up (3 ushumgals) which can further stack with Opus/Ultima Skill Cap up to reach a max of 90% skill cap up. On the CA department, Ushumgal is a pretty good main hand weapon too as it inflicts 15% fire defense down at FLB and does a bonus skill damage that has a base cap of 635k which can bloat to more than double if you equip FLB/ULB Sun, SSR Seraphic, a skill cap key from Ultima/Opus and Ushumgal’s 2nd skill itself.

Is it a must?

Personally speaking, it’s a big YES even if you don’t main fire, I suggest farming up to 2 copies at the very least. While the EX layer mod is weaker than HS/Xeno/Scales, it’ll feel like a cheap price for generally a higher DPS if you run a party with a lot of nukes and fire seriously has a lot of hard nukers and unlike Flamma Orbis, Ushumgal’s skill cap works even in sub grid which makes it even better.

The things it works with:

Ushumgal works with a ton of stuff to be honest, so let’s start with the Main Character first! As mentioned above, it works with its own charge attack via the bonus damage; adding to this, if you use Chrysaor and main hand Wasserspeier (the Chrysaor Class Champion Weapon) and give it a devilry emblem, it also gives a bonus damage that is skill based so if you Aux Ushumgal and use dual arts, theoretically, Ushumgal’s CA will end up with 2 bonus nukes which can easily contribute to at least 2m if you have enough skill cap ups. (If anyone can confirm, it’s much appreciated!)

Next up is the fact that Ushumgal also works with summons! Yes, you read that right, summons! Particularly summons with calls that specify a specific % damage and these are:

  • The Devil
  • The Sun
  • FLB Agni
  • FLB Satyr
  • Surtr

Having multiple ushumgals and a skill cap up Opus/Ultima key can easily let calls like ULB Devil and ULB Sun deal around 3m damage which is pretty solid if you ask me.

ULB The Devil call with Skill Cap up from Ultima, 2 Ushumgals, FLB Seraphic, RotB Katana with Cap up and MLB SR Sun.

Finally, we go to the characters, generally fire has a really good number of heavy nukers but probably the most notable for abusing Ushumgal is none other than the Primal Beast of Aegis, Athena!

While it doesn’t take full effect immediately, when Athena reaches 5 stacks of goddess wrath, she’ll start countering opponents with Tetradrachm which will then deal 10 hits as long she’s targeted, it doesn’t matter if she’s undamaged as the only condition for dealing the counter is that she’s targeted, if it misses, she will still throw tetradrachm; with around 2 Ushumgals, a skill cap up, SSR Seraphic and at least FLB Sun, Athena’s counters can easily dish out 3m damage and if your opponent’s normal attacks are AoE, then it means Athena will deal 3m damage EVERY TURN.

Athena’s Tetradrachm with Skill Cap up from Ultima, 2 Ushumgals, FLB Seraphic, RotB Katana with Cap up and MLB SR Sun; at 5 wrath stacks, it will deal 10 hits.

Athena aside, generally characters with ridiculous nuke damage, double skill casters and units with bonus damage on Charge Attack are great to pair with Ushumgal, some of these include (but are not limited to):

  • Shiva
  • Percival (both OG SSR and the Summer version)
  • Heles
  • Fraux
  • Alanaan
  • Lancelot and Vane

And that’s about this weapon look!

Weapon Look: Flamma Orbis (Xeno Corow Gun)

Above are the unmarked stats, bullet load and skills associated with the new weapon from Xeno Corow.

According to Gamewith, the 2nd skill provides a sad 0.5% skill damage up BUT a very powerful skill damage cap up of 30%, combining this a skill cap up from either Ultima weapons or Dark Opus weapons would provide you a whooping 80% skill cap up, which further stacks with Damage Cap ups if you have them. (i.e. Metatron sub summon, Scales of Dominion) The Solar Flare effect from the charge attack fires a nuke if your MC remains unhit for the turn, according to gamewith again, it has a cap of 630k damage (seraphic unfactored).

Is it a must?

I will say no BUT it is a really powerful Main Hand Weapon if you use Mechanic in certain contents like during EX+ of GW (Unite & Fight). You should, at least, get one copy of this and since both Xeno Weapons’ 2nd skill only function when they are used as Main Hand weapons, you actually get more attack from Flamma Orbis (atk 2840) than True Purity Sunblade (atk 2739) when you put it in your sub grid though that’s already min maxing by itself.

Characters who work with this Weapon:

Generally you’d want to use this as main hand with Heavy Nukers in light, since I don’t have every light unit ever, I’ll just mention 3 units I have who work well with Flamma Orbis’s 2nd skill.

  • Lucio (Grand)
  • Sandalphon (Event)
  • Sevilbarra (Event)

Lucio and Sandalphon are a given due to their high nuke damage and the ability to double cast it after Ougi. Meanwhile, my personal favorite is Sevilbarra’s sk1 nuke as Flamma Orbis now allows it to hit for 7m+; I use Sevilbarra for my OTK setup for Light advantage GW due to my lack of strong Ougi light units, I’ve built his EMP in a way that he’ll be able to utilize Sk1’s damage and you can see it below:

As a quick test I’ve also recorded a short clip on how Sevil does 7m nuke damage for OTK setups and I’ll embed it below:

Aug 24, 2019 Edit: As a full showcase of the weapon, I’ve made a DAO raid using Nighthound with Flamma Orbis while also having Lucio and Sandalphon in my party, check it out:

Anyway, that’s about it for this weapon look!
